Directed by Daniel De Smet, the research group focuses on the historical and philological study of the Sacred Scriptures, the Bible (Hebrew and Christian) and the Koran.

Directed by Marie-Odile Boulnois, the approach of this research group is essentially hermeneutical and historical, with a significant part devoted to the history of the reception of biblical texts. The Institut d’études augustiniennes is naturally part of this component.

Directed by Philippe Hoffmann, the object of Cluster 3 is the philosophical and doctrinal study of the fundamental texts of Western thought, including theological debates.

Directed by Brigitte Tambrun, this Cluster is studying religious or philosophical doctrines, in relation to environments or institutions.
This includes the study of medieval Judaism (with the center Nouvelle Gallia Judaica), and that of religious orders (with the CERCOR of Saint-Etienne).
