The LEM welcomes around 80 doctoral students in religious sciences, history and philosophy. In addition to the supervision of the PhD Director, the doctoral students can also benefit from a stimulating scientific context in pursuit of their research.
The laboratory’s regular seminar, the workshops and colloquia organised by the laboratory, the seminars of the EPHE doctoral schools and the University of Paris IV, the doctoral students’ welcome day and the seminars organised by the professors and by the doctoral students are all opportunities to learn about scientific life. Doctoral students can present the progress of their work in doctoral seminars and lectures.
The laboratory provides them access to two work rooms equipped with all the office equipment necessary for the preparation of their thesis. Doctoral students have access to all the databases and documents in the libraries associated with the LEM. The laboratory also finances, as far as possible, and with the doctoral school of the EPHE, the participation of doctoral students in national and international congresses and symposia in their speciality (on condition that they are participants) and short-term missions.
About the scientific supervision of doctoral students at LEM and the Doctoral Charter .
Every year in January, LEM organises a Welcome day for doctoral students. In the morning, the professors and members of the LEM present the laboratory and its research groups. This presentation is followed by a meeting between doctoral students and PhD. directors. The afternoon is focused on methodological workshops led by actual or ancient PhD students.

DOCTORAL STUDIES AT THE LEM
Out of 185 doctoral students registered between 2012 and 2017, 94 theses were defended.
